  8. System Extensions
  9. To run iView Multimedia you need to have QuickTime 2.5 or later installed on you computer. 
  10. Macs within the last 10 years usually have this extension included with the system software.
  11. IMPORTANT
  12. Downloading the latest FULL install of  QuickTime is strongly recommended, as it allows  iView Multimedia access to many more media files and sounds. If a file will not drag in (like TIFF) then you need the FULL install of the latest QuickTime. QuickTime can be downloaded free from:

  15. On computers running MacOS earlier than 7.5 you also need to install the "Drag & Drop" & "Thread Manager" system extensions.
  16. iView Multimedia supports Appleﾕs new Navigation Services open and save dialogs. To benefit from the new technology you should install the ﾒNavigationﾓ library in your system folder. This is built into system 8.5.

  20. iView Multimedia will run on all color MacOS computers.

It is recommended that you use 8MB of free available RAM memory. iView Multimedia will typically use a third of this setting. The remaining memory is used to load "large" image files, or for memory intensive operations, such as printing, etc. If your images are larger than 10MB each, iView Multimedia may flag an out-of-memory message. 
  23. In this case you should consider increasing the applications' memory partition, by about 2MB at a time.

  25. iView Multimedia requires about 10MB of free hard disk space for use as a scratch disk, when loading and editing catalogs. This scratch disk can be moved to any volume from the preferences.

  27. Finally, for best viewing of your images you should set you monitor color settings to "thousands" or "millions" of colors.
